Robert has been working as a lighting designer for over two decades in all genres of the entertainment industry.  His design credits span from Dance, Theatre and Opera to World Class Ceremonies, Film, Television and Rock & Roll.
Robert began his career working as a Production Assistant for Ballet BC, where developed a love for dance.  He eventually spent two seasons as the company’s Lighting Director remounting shows and touring across Canada and around the world.  Since then, Robert has had the opportunity to design for numerous dance companies including ballet bc, Kidd Pivot, Radical System Art, Company 605, Nederlands Dans Theatre, Royal Swedish Ballet, Luzern Theatre, and Movent where he collaborated with some of the worlds top choreographers including Crystal Pite, Aszure Barton, Shay Kuebler, Donald Sales, Dana Gingras, Peter Chu, Lisa Gelley and Josh Martin. His work with Crystal Pite on A Picture of You Falling was nominated for a Knights of Illumination Award.
Robert’s other passion is musical theatre, which blends his work on Dance and Music.  He has worked with some the top theatre companies in British Columbia including The Arts Club, Western Canada Theatre, theatre under the stars, Royal City Musical Theatre, URP, Raincity theatre and Align Entertainment. In addition, his work has toured North American including We Will Rock You for Annerin Productions.  He has won 3 Ovation awards and has numerous other nominations.    
Robert also had the opportunity to work with world-renowned visual artist Stan Douglas on the Arts Club/Canadian Stage production of Helen Lawrence, which blended theatre and film on stage.  He toured Canada, Scotland, Germany, Belgium and the USA remounting this show.
In addition to the Arts, Robert also works as a production designer for international televised sporting events.  Notable TV credits include Opening and Closing Ceremonies for numerous games including the 2010 Paralympics, 2017 Invictus Games, 2007/11/15/19/21 Canada Winter Games, 2017/22 Canada Summer Games, The 2023 North American Indigenous games and 14 Grey Cup Halftime Shows for the CFL.
